back to the future

well folks, we promised to post and now that you have all been waiting in grand anticipation...here we go. first, we will enjoy a series of 'back in time' (sing the back to the future soundtrack in your head) reports of our recent expeditions. most of mike and I's adventures have been outdoors in nature, hence the spin of this blog. in fact this all started because of our common interest of being outside. we met (formally, despite having served on the same church council the semester before) at a game night at mike's apartment back in january. we were all playing a game called 'boxers and briefs' which is akin to 'apples to apples'. i held in reserve a very special card, waiting for the right color to come up to play it. coincidentally, mike was the first to roll that color and i slipped my card into the deck. upon reading the card that said "i would set up tents in the aisle of a store for fun", mike's roommates exclaimed, "ah man, who put that card in?". i raised my hand, much teasing commenced, mike's cheeks went red, and eventually he realized he had found his perfect match. [funny tangent... we were at rei last night and unfurled a thermarest chair and set it up...the rei employee came over, said he'd been meaning to try that out, sat in our demo chair, and we evaluated its pros and cons...not to far from setting up a tent (they're always up in rei though, so we have to set up other gear).] anyways, back to the story, after a few other encounters at ward activities, mike and i began on a long series of outdoor adventures starting with cross country skiing, moving on to summiting various peaks, and mountain biking just last week. in between we decided to get married, hence your opportunity to read and enjoy vicariously experiencing our adventures.
