capitol reef

for the first blast from past, we'll actually go back quite a bit to february....our first mini-road trip. on a school holiday, we planned a trip down to southern utah. various and asundry friends bailed on the trip, so we found ourselves pleasantly alone and free to get lost for a day. once in capitol reef, we picked a long but relatively easy trail and spent the day slowly making our way through red rock (i.e. stopping for naps and snacks rather frequently). towards sundown, we made a fabulous dinner on mike's little stove...kidney beans, tomatoes, and chicken all straight from tin cans. simple but good, (p.s., that's how mike won me over...like the time he made a me a crochet hook out of a hanger, i love it). we watched a lovely sunset and then walked back to the car under the stars, trying but failing to remember the constellations. we drove home in the dark of the night just in time to get a few hours of sleep before school the next day and surprisingly not at all sick of each others company.
