explosion aftermath

who knew? pyrex + heat on one side and cold on the other = bad bad bad. the other day, mike came up with an ingenious project for his thermodynamics class, which impressed his teacher but cost the dear life of one of our pyrex dishes. whilst testing the idea out, mike thought it would be good to use a clear container...let's just say that for further experiments he used tin dishes. And this is why:

shield your tender eyes if you love casseroles and brownies

and the few remaining pieces.

So, consider yourselves warned and never try to set up a convection current in a pyrex dish. Oh wait, only worry about that if you also live with an inventor-in-training. Or at least get out of the room when such experiments are conducted or explosions will occur with absolutely no warning...one minute, a potential casserole holder on its way to baking glory, the next moment, gone. And so we mourn the loss of our 8x8 pyrex (as does it's twin baking dish who no longer has a buddy to split the cooking duties with). Farewell good friend. You went out with a bang (quite literally).


P.S. It snowed yesterday and we enjoyed a hike up Rock Canyon in full winter gear much to Mike's delight. Thanks Decemeber! We weren't let down by the recent flurry!
